Today is Wednesday, New Comic Day, and if you get to your comics shop today, there’s only one book you should be picking up, and that’s Furious #1 by Bryan J.L. Glass and Victor Santos! Check it after the jump for more.
Published by Dark Horse and sneak-peeked in last week’s Dark Horse Presents #31, Furious is a new kind of super-heroine. Created by writer Bryan J.L. Glass (Mice Templar, Thor: First Thunder) several years ago and brought to life visually by artist Victor Santos (Mice Templar, Polar), Furious is something you’ve never seen before.
Furious is rooted in reality, not that grim and gritty stuff that passes for reality in most comics, but the real world. What if superheroes really existed? How would the world react? How would the media react? And inside it all is one woman’s battle with her own demons, and her drive to do good.
From Glass’ canny and insightful grasp of how the real world and the superhero world would actually mesh to Santos’ almost Gil Kane-like superheroics, this is a book to watch. Folks who know me know I don’t give praise easily, but Furious is one of the best new comics this year, and Glass and Santos are about to become superstars. Get in on the ground floor and pick up the first issue today!
Check out my interview of creator Bryan Glass on this week’s episode of The GAR! Podcast, you can hear it here, and don’t forget to Follow Furious on Twitter and Like her on Facebook.
