‘The seeds’ are already being planted as we speak.
Picture this: antibiotic-resistant bacteria and anti-viral medications that no longer work. Add to that, governments constructing walls to segregate society. And there’s a backlash on tech.
Sounds like a awareness campaign that the World Health Organization night put together along with SJW’s and NGO’s. You know, if they’d all just get along.
Instead, it’s the backdrop to a the highly anticipated new science fiction mini series, The Seeds, published by the Berger Books imprint of Dark Horse Comics.
The Seeds #1
Written By: Ann Nocenti
Illustrated By: David Aja
Published By: Dark Horse Comics
The dystopian future of The Seeds, painted by acclaimed writer Ann Nocenti (Daredevil, Catwoman, Kid Eternity) and critical and fan favourite artist David Aja (Hawkeye, Immortal Iron Fist) is a time that’s not so far away from today.
Except, of course, the story has aliens.
Hey! With all the crazy never-thought-I’d-see-that political environment we currently tolerate, and with the planet Mars now in its closest proximity to Earth in over a decade, maybe aliens are not so far off from our current state of reality!
In The Seeds, the Earth is a dying planet. Luckily (or is that more bad luck), a small group of aliens has decided to add humanity’s essence to the celestial embryo bank. The only problem with that plan? One of them falls in love. Amidst that hefty emotional and scientific weight, an ambitious photojournalist uncovers a story that could upend any hope that humanity has left. Will she report it?
The Seeds is another publication via the Berger Books imprint – a line of comic books that can be trusted for thought-proving story and exceptional visuals. Nocenti and Aja have been, and remain, high water marks of the comic book storytelling industry. And Karen Berger, the namesake of the imprint, is editor and curator. She’s had an illustrious and eventful career in founding Vertigo Comics for DC Comics and giving opportunity to some of literature’s greatest writers in Alan Moore (Watchmen, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Providence) and Neil Gaiman (Sandman, American Gods, Black Orchid) among many others.
With a fascinating and fast paced story, with gritty and brilliantly rendered art, The Seeds is a tale to be experienced. You can check out the trailer for the futuristic noir series directly below.
With a tag line of “They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds” you know this is going to be a hard-hitting emotional roller-coaster of a story.
We all reap what we sow, and the crop of comic books looks great today! Make the run to your local comic book shop today and pick up the first issue of the four issue miniseries, The Seeds.
